Carnet de Voyage de Louis Vuitton, Mexico

In his Travel Book, the French writer, illustrator and painter Nicolas de Crécy depicts Mexico as a baroque country full of poetry.

A writer, illustrator and painter who has been working for over twenty-five years, Nicolas de Crécy has created a multiform body of work, as poetic as it is unusual. His books, informed by philosophy, literature and Surrealism, come in varied graphic and stylistic forms that revisit genres (graphic novels, mangas, travel books, drawings, etc.) and techniques (ink, watercolour, pencil, gouache, pen, chalk, etc.).

Some panels of his Mexico Travel Book, packed with detail, call for colour, while others are simpler and drawn quickly and incisively with a ballpoint pen or black ink. Alternating them brings out the best in each. Nicolas de Crécy’s book is a reflection of the country: baroque, feverish and powerful.

A limited edition of the Travel Book, numbered and signed by the artist, is available in selected Louis Vuitton stores.
