2018 is the year of luxury. This is what data from the foundation of the Alta gamma luxury companies, which has conducted a 360-degree survey on this fascinating and constantly growing sector, say it.
The global luxury goods market is expected to reach € 281 billion. The sector should record an increase of between 6% and 8% this year (at constant exchange rates).
The Chinese market continues to stand out as a driver of growth: Asian consumers are big fans and fashion experts as well as digitally advanced, thus pushing the sector towards an acceleration in the "millennial state of mind".
This year it is expected that online sales will continue to accelerate and that young people will boost social media shopping. Casual wear and street wear remain one of the levers to attract new consumers.
4% growth is expected for clothing, in line with the October 2017 forecast.
