TOWARDS MILANO BRIDAL WEEK:
SÌ SPOSAITALIA COLLEZIONI
AT THE CENTRE OF THE INTERNATIONAL WEDDING FASHION SCENE
Milan, 10 May 2017 - Cuts flaunting an expert blend of tradition and research; increasingly trendy hats for guests' outfits, and details that are certain not to go unnoticed.
These are just some of the new trends awaiting the Italian and international professional visitors at the 40th Sì Sposaitalia Collezioni, to be held at fieramilanocity from Friday 19 to Monday 22 May 2017. And as the countdown begins, with just 10 days to go, interest in the most glamorous event of Milano Bridal Week - which is preparing for this anniversary edition with a refurbished set-up - has reached fever pitch.
Thanks to the renovated lighting design, the lanes will be awash with light, replicating the atmosphere of majorshopping streets. The trademarks are highlighted with frame-like elements that form the leitmotif of the route as far as Town In Flowers, where the spotlight will be placed on the stylish details of internationally renowned designers. The route ends with a minimal-cum-new-romantic catwalk, where the rich schedule of fashion shows, curated once again by Mazzini Eventi, will be staged.
As of today's date, the brands to be featured on the catwalk are Elisabetta Polignano, Giuseppe Papini and Tot-Hom, who will open on Friday 19 May; Saturday will be the turn of LusanMandongus, Blumarine Sposa, Bellantuono Sartoria, Le collezioni and Antonio Riva Milano;onSunday, the event will round off with Kisui Berlin, Amelia Casablanca and Petrelli Uomo.
The forthcoming event promises to be a record-breaking edition featuring over 200 bridal collections designed by the greatest masters of Italian and foreign bridal fashion.
Of the new international entries, most worthy of note are: Jenny Packham, who takes ready-to-wear influences and exalts them in a wedding key; Flora, with its “real bride” authenticity; Tony Ward, with his timeless couture; and Sophie et Voilà, the atelier of the imaginative Spanish designer, Sofía Arribas. And again, Katya Katya Shehurina, a contemporary interpreter of Russian vintage; Badgley Mischka, the master with an unmistakable touch in terms of colour and accessories; Atelier Emelia Paris, which endows bridal collections with French savoir-vivre; and Lambert Créations, the ongoing evolution of a historic name in French couture.
Another novelty this year is the début, alongside the Maisons, of international celebrities who have become authentic arbitrators of style. One example is Randy Fenoli, an American success story who has risen from his difficult childhood to mentor of VIP brides, and who will be premièring his first collection in Italy; another is Enzo Miccio, a contemporary interpreter of the most classic Italian etiquette, who will be premièring his first collection internationally.
Here, in the unique climate of the Italian fashion capital, business and creativity, tradition and new cultures coexistin harmony, revealing the most interesting trends, not just in wedding dresses, but also in formal wear for men, women and children, and in accessories. With its brands, fashion parades and events, Sì Sposaitalia Collezioni will place Milan at the centre of the world's bridal scene for four days, through the presence of more than 8,000 major buyers from Italy and abroad.
Considerable investment has been made to ensure the participation of carefully selected international buyers, thanks, in part, to the expertise of the ITA - Italian Trade Agency. Particular focus will be placed on buyers visiting from the most dynamic global markets, including professionals from Saudi Arabia, China, Dubai, Japan, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Iran, Libya, Qatar, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey and the USA. In addition to invited buyers, many more Italian and international buyers and corporate decision-makers will, as always, be in attendance as visiting professionals.
Among the many scheduled events, particularly notable is the first edition of the Elle International Bridal Awards organised with the exclusive collaboration of Elle, the most widespread international women's magazine that, for thirty years, has been giving fashion, beauty and lifestyle tips to women from all over the world. The new accolades will be awarded based on the following ten categories: Best Bridal Gown, Best Bridal Collection, Best Groom's Wear collection, Best Collection of Bridal Jewellery, Best Bridal Runway Show, Best Ad Campaign, Best Emerging Stylist, Lifetime Achievement Award, Best Wedding Planner and Best Honeymoon Resort.
The award will have a special patroness, Federica Pellegrini, acting in her capacity of Bridal Expert: Federica is not only a world swimming champion, but also a known fashionista who enjoys the odd appearance on the catwalks. On this occasion, she will contribute her experience and taste to assess the garments competing in the first edition of the awards.
