Best of Cracov Fashion Week

The celebration of fashion in Cracow was inaugurated with the Cracow Fashion Awards Competition show in ICE Kraków Congress. It was a great pleasure for me to be invited by the Cracow School of Art and Fashion Design (KSA) as a Jury member at the 9th edition of Cracow Fashion Week that starts on the 10h of March.

I had the chance to meet with other Polish and International Jury Members globally recognized fashion personalities among them Mark Fast, Canada, graduate of Central Saint Martins; Nawie Kuiper, Netherlands, representative Fashionclash festival; Bin Chen, China, Fashion Faculty of University of Shanghai;  Polish specialist as Ilona Majer and Rafał Michalak (MMC); Kasia Sokolowska, Fashion director, Michał Zaczyński and Harel. Young talents from all over the world participated to this Awards, we had the pleasure to see on catwalk also International guests that weren’t included in the competion. From Italy the Sicilian brand A’biddikkia shows her Spring-Summer sunny and colored couture collection. The Competition Winners are Bylevskay twins sisters, They presented two collections for the Awards, one for women, very glam and one for men original and atypical. All the Jury members agreed and voted for this First Price,Bylevskaymen collection, entitled « Not Me »won the first price, it was inspired to «The definition of attractiveness has become less valuable. Differences are less noticeable. Plastic surgery eventually destroyed the definition of identity.»

The main theme of Cracow Fashion Week was Fashion & Ecology. It reminds us how desperately the modern world needs a fresh take on designing and producing clothing. Polish fashion has a lot to say in the matter, and it was prooved by actions of young brands, which often create in the spirit of ecology, balanced development and fair trade. Cracow Fashion Week grand finale was the No WasteShow on the 18th March, which remind us to not throw away things hastily. Young designers from Fashion Faculty created outfits made of recycled materials, under the supervision of KSA lecturers.

Whole week, from 10th to 18th March, was an unique opportunity to participate in cloth-and jewellery-making workshops, lectures, exposition, exhibitions and other events, all Focused on Fashion.

Cracow Fashion Week, organized by Fashion Faculty of Cracow School of Art and Fashion Design (KSA) and city of Kraków, cooperating with Krakowskie Biuro Festiwalowe, increases the charm and adds glamour to the beautiful and unique city of Krakow that I was glad to visit and had the pleasure to taste its exquisite food.
